Description
Check out our Seattle's Child 12+ Seattle-area events to celebrate Día de Muertos here.
Celebrate your cherished pets and animals at the zoo who have passed away at Woodland Park Zoo’s animal ofrenda in honor of Día de Muertos. The ofrenda will pay tribute to the beloved pets who have touched hearts, the animals that have lived at the zoo throughout history, and the enduring bond between people and animals, recognizing that all life is interconnected and worthy of remembrance.
Starting October 22, the zoo will begin accepting digital photos, drawings or notes from the community. On October 24, 25, 27, 30, 31 and November 1 from 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., staff will be at the ofrenda to help print digital photos; themed animal coloring sheets, photo frame decorating, and other art supplies will be available during these dates and times. On October 27, the ofrenda will be unveiled.
Contribute to the ofrenda or simply experience this heartfelt tribute and honor the spirit of Día de Muertos—a meaningful space for reflection, remembrance, and gratitude for the animals who have shaped the history of Woodland Park Zoo, inspired wildlife conservation efforts locally and globally, and sparked joy for the zoo and community.
