Family Saturday: Kamishibai (Storyboard Theatre)

Seattle Japanese Garden. FREE

Cory Southwell and the students of Youth Theatre NW are presenting a production of Kamishibai story telling. It is a form of Japanese street theater, in which stories are told through a series of large paper panels placed in a wooden frame. At 11 a.m. see The Three Magic Charms and The Wizard of Oz. At noon, The Kappa and the Carpenter and The Ogre that Wanted to be Human. Free admission for youth 12 and younger

 

Rainbow Story Time

Bring your kids from birth to age 5 to the Montlake Branch of the Seattle Public Library for a fun story time and celebration of LGBTQIA families.

 

Juneteenth Celebration
All day Sat, June 15
Pratt Park, Seattle

Come to Pratt Park near Leschi to celebrate Juneteenth, the holiday that commemorates the June 19, 1865 announcement of the abolition of slavery in Texas, and more generally the emancipation of African-American slaves throughout the Confederate South. Recognized as a city holiday in 2016, it’s a day of community, performances, and fun.

Spaced-Out Magic Show

How do objects travel from one side of the room to the other? Join entertainer Louie Foxx and watch some amazing magic while he teaches everyone how to move objects through space. Great for kids ages 5 and older.

 

Rock and Roll Playhouse: The Music of the Grateful Dead Father’s Day Celebration
Sun, June 16 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
The Showbox, Seattle

Rock and Roll Playhouse family concerts bridge the gap between the music you love and the music your children love using the songs created by the most iconic musicians in rock history. Come play games, learn some dance moves, and just generally, rock out before lunchtime. $15. Children under age 1 are free. Doors open at 11:00 a.m.

 

"Peter Pan: The Musical"
Sun, June 16 2:30 p.m.
Studio East Theater, Kirkland

It’s the final performance of "Peter Pan: The Musical" for Studio East’s talented cast of students, ages 8-19, plus a few adult actors. Head to the Mainstage Theater in the Totem Lake neighborhood of Kirkland for this delightful 2 1/2-hour show (with an intermission). Great for kids ages 5 and older and their families. $20.
