Seattle’s Child is proud to partner with the state Department of Children, Youth and Families Strengthening Families Washington to honor outstanding caregivers doing important work on behalf of children. Throughout February, we’ll introduce you to Unsung Heroes from around the state. Enjoy their stories.
Destiny Bergevin, Tacoma
Destiny started at our center as a 4-week-old foster child, born with drugs in her system. She was raised by her grandmother and overcame all the obstacles and odds.
She now has an incredible relationship with her clean and sober mom. She has worked through a male-dominated field to become a lead mechanic at a local dealership, and has a son who inspires her drive every day to always be the best and not to believe in a glass ceiling.
Her work is hard every day but she shows up with a smile on her face, sometimes dirt and grime, but she keeps positivity and energy in her tank for the staff and her son no matter what!
