This teacher and single mom is an ‘incredible person’ | Unsung Hero

Lina Older is a beloved teacher who also raises a son with love and excellence.

Seattle’s Child is proud to partner with the state Department of Children, Youth and Families Strengthening Families Washington to honor outstanding caregivers doing important work on behalf of children. Throughout February, we’ll introduce you to Unsung Heroes from around the state. Enjoy their stories.Ā

Lina Older, Gig HarborĀ

Mrs. Older was my daughter’s third-grade teacher. During the course of the year she was tough in all the right ways.

She is a single mom and even though she works full time as a teacher she took time to participate in teaching and helping run the robotics club and math club. These extra things made a huge difference to my daughter over the year.

Mrs. Older is an incredible teacher and gives great support to parents. You can tell she believes in her students and tries to help them succeed. I have had her and her son over for a dinner and it is obvious she is raising her son with the utmost love and excellence. She is an incredible person.
