Teach For America Founder Wendy Kopp Next “Voices from the Education Revolution” Speaker

The founder and chief executive of Teach For America, Wendy Kopp, will share her thoughts on what it will take to truly transform education on Wednesday, March 2, at 6:30 p.m. at the Museum of History & Industry (2700 24th Ave. E. in Seattle). This event, the next in the League of Education Voters “Voices from the Education Revolution” series, is free and open to the public.

Kopp is the author of One Day, All Children: The Unlikely Triumph of Teach For America and What I Learned Along the Way and of the forthcoming A Chance to Make History: What Works and What Doesn’t in Providing an Excellent Education for All. The event will include a book signing at 8 p.m.

The mission of Teach For America is to build the movement to eliminate educational inequity by enlisting the nation’s most promising future leaders in the effort. Kopp is also chief executive officer and co-founder of Teach For All, a global network of independent social enterprises pursuing this mission in their countries.

Today more than 8,000 Teach For America corps members are in the midst of two-year teaching commitments in 39 regions across the country, reaching over 500,000 students. In addition, 20,000 alumni are working inside and outside the field of education to continue the effort to ensure educational excellence and equity.

Pre-registration is required, as space is limited. To learn more, visit the League of Education Voters web site at www.educationvoters.org/revolution/speakers.
