Take the whole family to the Seattle Center for this fun stage magic show at the Center House Theater. Magician Raymond offers his unique blend of comedy magic, story telling, audience participation and stage illusions during a great afternoon. Then stick around after the show to learn a trick. Youth-Led Gallery Discussions Sat, Feb 8 1-3 p.m. Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Discovery Center. FREE

Participate in a youth-led dialogue at the Bill & Melinda Gates Discovery Center and explore how young people are creating change in their communities. Plus you will discover local connections to the social movements represented in the exhibit "We the Future." A perfect afternoon for civic-minded young people and adults.

 

Haiku Writing Workshop Sat, Feb 8 1:30 p.m. Cedar River Watershed Education Center. FREE

Join naturalist and Seattle's Civic Poet, Jourdan Keith, on a writing adventure. Pull on a warm coat and sturdy shoes and explore the Cedar River Watershed. Pause, slow down, and observe nature, while learning to write Haikus. Best for ages 7 and older. Pre-register. 

 

Science Sunday: How to be Part of a Worldwide Bird Science Project Sun, Feb 9 Newport Library Bellevue 1:30-3 p.m. FREE

Learn the secrets of local birds at the Newport Library this Sunday. Discover where to look and how to identify them then practice data collection with the nature apps eBird and Merlin. You’ll then be able to participate in community science projects like the Great Backyard Bird Count February 14-17, or other nature science projects. End the afternoon with a nature-themed craft. Ideal for kids ages 5 to 12.

 

Community Fun Skate Sun, Feb 9 2-5 p.m. Magnuson Community Center. FREE

PFM Roller Derby hosts a free roller skating session at Magnuson Community Center! Come lace up some skates and try traditional roller-skating to lively music. Have fun and get some recreational exercise. Event happens every second Sunday of the month.
