Erika’s social distancing weekend picks July 18 and 19

Visit a fairy festival or try fun activities at home.

Every weekend, Erika Bigelow picks some choice activities for families to do. This week’s weekend picks include one ourdoor event with social distancing, and four things you can do at home.

Lakewold Gardens Fairyfest

 Sat/Sun July 18/19 1-2 p.m., Lakewold Gardens, Lakewood

Head to the Lakewold Gardens in Lakewood for a fun afternoon on a scavenger fairy hunt. Then join a physically-distanced storytelling session and drum circle.

‘Guess What,’ the Family-Friendly Stand Up Comedy Show

 Sat July 18 1-3 p.m. Online. FREE

The fact is, we could all use some laughs right now. Get the family together and log on for an online stand-up comedy show that is family-friendly. NYC comics will be doing their stand up live and kids can get a chance to tell their jokes in between comics! Tickets are free, but pre-register.

DIY Puppet Workshops with WonderSpark Puppets

Puppets are a great way to help kids talk about their feelings. Why not make a few and have some conversations or simply put on a family show? Check out the WonderSpark Facebook page for puppet workshops, live puppet shows, and even puppet protests!

Otters and Seals – Join them for a Meal!

Sat July 18, 7, 9 and 11 a.m. Seattle Aquarium Online
Pour your cereal, scramble and egg, and hop online to join the sea otters and seals, as the staff at the Seattle Aquarium prepare and serve them breakfast. If you aren’t an early riser, don’t worry; there are afternoon meals too.

Mountaineers Youth Summer Quest

Sign up for a free Mountaineers account, then join the quest to complete 10 different outdoor activities by August 31st and receive a Summer Quest Graduation Badge. Activities range from identifying edible plants and trying recipes to campfire cooking and a hiking challenge. And the bonus is you can do many of these activities from your very own yard!
