The French American School of Puget Sound has officially received full accreditation from the French Ministry of Education for its middle school, recognizing its excellent bilingual program for grades 6 through 8, its outstanding faculty and high academic standards. It is the only school in Washington with a fully accredited program for students in pre-kindergarten through grade 8.
Head of School Eric Thuau is thrilled to announce this new milestone in the life of the 18-year-old school. In just four years since the middle school program began, receiving this highly regarded accreditation is a testament to the vision of the school's leadership, the work of an experienced and talented faculty and the consistent support from its parent community.
The French American School of Puget Sound was started by a few committed teachers and parents in September 1995 in the basement of a church in the Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle. The school quickly grew from 13 students to a complete preschool and elementary school, and Mercer Island became the school's new location. During the 2011-12 school year, the school welcomed over 380 students from ages 2 to 14, and enjoys a community representing more than 45 nationalities.
