Seattle FOrest week

Hug a tree during Seattle Forest Week and Green Seattle Day

Lots of volunteer and educational events set for Oct. 28-Nov. 4, 2023.

Celebrate trees and nature by joining an activity related to Seattle Forest Week, Oct. 28-Nov. 4, 2023.

This is the third annual observance, designed as a chance to celebrate and appreciate our urban forests.

In addition, the following Saturday (Nov. 4) in particular is Green Seattle Day, and there are events (in and out of the city) for that, too.

Here’s what’s going on:

Seattle Forest Week, Oct. 28-Nov. 4

Arbor Day is Sunday, October 28, and there’s a celebration from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Jefferson Park Community Center. There will be music, art, kids’ activities and ways to volunteer. For example, people can help plant large trees around the playground.

Green Seattle Day, a volunteer planting and restoration event, takes place on Saturday, November 4 at 16 parks across Seattle.

Check out Union, a large outdoor sculpture suspended dynamically from two large nets spanning more than 100 feet between eight trees in the middle of Washington Park Arboretum. You have to see it to believe it! Union was created by one of the world’s leading contemporary artists, Seattle-based John Grade. It is made from more than 6,000 individual cast resin parts framed in laminated ceiba wood. You can stop by anytime from dawn to dusk at Washington Park Arboretum.
