Erika's weekend picks: Pi Day, St. Pat's fun & more

St. Paddy’s Day Party, Fri 1 to 2:30 p.m. FREE. Loyal Heights Community Center. Festive crafts, cookie decorating and a story. seattle.gov

Pi Day Dash, Sat 9 a.m. Magnuson Park. A 3.14 mile course, of course. Come join in this fun run with a pie party at the finish. Dogs and strollers are welcome. Cutie Pie Dash (free) for kids 6 and younger. $40-45. therewillbepie.com

Girls Rock Math Pi Day, Sat 10-12 MLK FAME Community Center. Pie making contest, math games and a Pi recitation contest. Can you name the first 100 digits of pi? Suggested $3.14 donation. girlsrockmathematics.com

Happy 90th Birthday, Wing Luke, Sat 10-5. Wing Luke Museum. Celebrating Wing Chong Luke's life and legacy with displays of unseen Wing Luke artifacts and a presentation about the man and name behind the museum. Great Blue Herons, Sat 10-12 Discovery Park, FREE. Visit a large rookery close to the park and learn what makes this bird great. Ages 8 and older with an adult. Must be able to walk as far as 1 mile. seattle.gov

St. Patrick's Day Parade and Irish Festival, Sat 12:30 and Sat/Sun 12-6 p.m. FREE. Celebrate the day o' green at the Saturday Irish parade from Jefferson & 4th to the Seattle Center, then stay for all things Irish; music, dance, art, genealogy, contests, fun and food. The Seattle Center Irish Festival continues on Sunday too. irishclub.org

Salamander Search, Sat 2-4 p.m. Camp Long, FREE. Ages 6 and older and their adult can learn fun facts about the three types of salamanders at the camp and then try to spot them in their natural habitat. seattle.gov
