Tacoma's Northwest Trek is celebrating its 40th birthday with some new arrivals. Two bighorn sheep lambs and a pair of bison calves were born earlier this month, each joining a baby sibling. The nursing calves and lambs are staying close to their moms in the wildlife park’s 435-acre free-roaming area. Kids can see the babies during a 50-minute, naturalist guided tram tour.
“It’s always exciting for us to witness the joy and wonder on our visitors faces when they get to experience seeing a new calf or lamb for the first time,” Northwest Trek Education Curator Jessica Moore said. “Spring is a wonderful time to visit the wildlife park and learn about native Northwest animals.”
The park will welcome more newborns in the coming weeks, including Roosevelt elk, bison and sheep babies. Visit nwtrek.org for details.
