Dad's day is almost here! Is there a better way to show him love than by treating him to a meal? From brunch to barbecue and beyond, we've rounded up six picks for superb Father's Day meals around Seattle.
Downtown
This year, Metropolitan Grill’s Father’s Day brunch features three distinct takes on American Wagyu steak: Hanger steak marinated in a Bloody Mary peppercorn sauce with scrambled eggs and bacon; chicken fried Wagyu with gravy and eggs; and a ground-Wagyu scramble with Italian sausage, Crimini mushrooms, and parmigiano reggiano. If you’re not in the mood for beef, nab the brioche french toast or signature benedict (yukon gold potato cakes and pan-seared short ribs). Brunch runs from 10 am to 2 pm; reservations recommended. 820 2nd Ave, Seattle, 98104
Eastlake
Eastlake’s Little Water Cantina serves up Mexican with killer waterfront views. The menu offers up classic Mexican fare including tacos, enchiladas, pozole and chiles rellenos; if you’re hunting for something more unique, their rotating torta menu serves up flavorful meat and fish on a Macrina bun. Open from 11:30 am to 9 pm; tortas are served 11:30 am to 2 pm. 2865 Eastlake Ave E, Seattle, 98102
Central District
The Barbeque Pit’s spectacular house-smoked meats are a serious treat, even for barbecue enthusiasts. Pitmaster Pookie smokes his meats differently than most by removing them from direct heat; the wood he uses in his smoker is collected from around the Central District. Snag a pound of rib tips or a pulled-pork sandwich on a soft, tender bun; sides (baked beans, collard greens and potato salad) are a must. Open from noon to 5 pm on Sundays. Cash only. 2509 E Cherry St, Seattle, 98122
Maple Leaf
Kona Kitchen, nestled just off I-5 between Green Lake and Maple Leaf, offers classic Hawaiian lunch and breakfast fare in super-sized portions. The menu is totally kid-friendly, with Hawaiian sweetbread french toast, build-your-own omelettes and pigs-in-a-pancake. Standouts include the Waimea plate lunch and Hawaiian-style fried rice. Open from 8 am to 9 pm Sundays. 8501 5th Ave NE, Seattle, 98115.
Woodinville
The brunch menu at Woodinville’s Barking Frog is an upscale Northwest take on breakfast, with huckleberry pancakes and beignets, Dungeness crab Cobb salad, Grand Marnier prawns and crab cakes benedict. Sunday brunch opens mega-early (6 am!) and runs til 2:30 pm. 14580 NE 145th St, Woodinville, 98072
Bellevue
The accessible deli-classic menu at Gilberts will please adults and kids alike. On the sweet side, there’s pancakes, thick-sliced French toast and granola; on the savory, try something from the big omelette and scramble selection or a breakfast bagel. Gilberts also offers “micro” versions of their omelettes and scrambles if your appetite tends toward the smaller side. Open from 8 am to 3 pm Sundays. 10024 Main St, Bellevue, 98004
