‘You’d never know the difference’ | Unsung Heroes

Seattle’s Child is proud to partner with the state Department of Children, Youth and Families Strengthening Families Washington to honor outstanding caregivers doing important work on behalf of children. Throughout February, we’ll introduce you to Unsung Heroes from around the state: biological parents, grandparents, foster and adoptive parents. Some volunteer at local schools; some have started nonprofits; some mentor others in their communities. Enjoy the stories of 2024’s unsung heroes.

Tim and Julie Rise, Tumwater

I’m the director of a childcare center and Tim and Julie have been bringing their children to our daycare since June of last year. They foster children but you would never know the difference. To know Tim and Julie, is to know what unconditional love looks like. 

They are the most dedicated, patient, and nurturing parents that I have ever had the privilege of knowing.

Myself and my fellow coworkers have learned a thing or two about what it takes to be a great caregiver from watching them with their children. I feel blessed that our paths crossed because they are wholesome good people.
