Family Magic Show, WeatherFest, Archaeology Day, and more!

 

Friday Family Skate Night Fri Jan 20 6:30-8:15 p.m. Bitter Lake Community Center Annex

Speed skate, couples skate, backwards skate, and more at this popular Bitter Lake Community Center family event! It’s an evening of great music and fun games. BYO skates or blades or borrow a pair of ours. No toy skates, please. $4 per skater.

Archaeology Day Sat Jan 21 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Burke Museum

Dig into the past at the Burke this weekend and learn about our ancestors. What did they eat? Where did they sleep? How did they get from place to place? Thousands of years of human history will be on display including tools and artifacts. Great for all ages. Included with admission. $10, $8 seniors, $7.50 students with ID and ages 5 to 18, free ages 4 and younger.  

Get Crafty Saturdays! Sat Jan 21 1-3 p.m. Bellevue Arts Museum

Reimagine mosaics this Saturday at the BAM in a fun drop-in arts activity for kids 4-10 years old. Each Get Crafty Saturday features one exhibition and includes activities to inspire creativity and promote sharing and learning. Supplies may be limited – first come, first served. $4 material fee per child. Event included with admission. $12, $10 students and seniors, $5 TeenTix, free ages 5 and younger, $30 family.

Congolese Rumba Music & Dance Sat Jan 21 7 p.m. Rainier Arts Center

Explore Cuban influenced music and dance that originated in the Congo basin in the 1940s and gained popularity through the 1960s and 1970s. The Congolese Rumba is part of a music and dance heritage that brings people together. Saturday’s performance features youth from local community group, Nsanga Cultural Group. $15, $10 seniors and students. 

WeatherFest Sun Jan 22 12-4 p.m. Washington State Convention Center. FREE

If you have any weather fans in your family, you will not want to miss this! WeatherFest is a FREE public event that leads off the annual meeting of the American Meteorological Society. Come check out hands-on, interactive experiments and booths by teachers and scientists from government, television, radio and private industry. All ages are welcome to join the fun! 

Family Magic Show Sun Jan 22 1 & 3 p.m. Seattle Center House Theater

Illusion and magic and comedy, oh my! Take the whole family to the Seattle Center for this mind-blowing interactive stage magic show. Magician Raymond combines a variety of magical techniques to read minds and engage kids of all ages. Be sure to stay after the show to learn your own magic trick you can take home to impress your friends. $5 cash at the door, free ages 3 and younger.
