Low tides, strawberries, trucks and more this weekend!

 

Explore the Beach with Naturalists Sat July 22, 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Various beaches. FREE
Put on sunblock and waterproof shoes and join volunteer naturalists during low tide on the beach to learn about Puget Sound's many marine plants and animals. Offered at several beaches on various dates through August. See online schedule here. 

Bright Horizon’s Truck Day Sat July 22, 10 a.m.-2p.m.  Bright Horizon’s Mercer Island. FREE
Calling all kids who love big vehicles, come climb on and explore a variety of vehicles and trucks at Bright Horizons, then take part in hands-on activities, face painting, a truck washing station, and more. Proceeds from the event will go to the Bright Horizons Foundation for Children, a non-profit organization focused on brightening the lives of children and families in crisis. Free admission, donations accepted. 

Vashon Island Strawberry Festival Sat July 22, 10 a.m.-midnight/Sun July 23, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Vashon Island. FREE
Hop a ferry to Vashon for a weekend of delicious food, fun arts and crafts, lively music, a showstopping parade (11 a.m. Saturday), a classic car parade (11:45 a.m. Sunday), awesome kids’ activities and, of course, lots and lots of strawberries. Bring money for incidentals.

Walk for Old Dogs and Old Dog Pageant Sun July 23, 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Shoreline
Bring your older four-legged canine friend for an easy-going promenade, followed by contests, vendors and more. Money raised will help Old Dog Haven care for and find forever homes for senior dogs.  $25, includes a tote bag. 

Bite of Seattle Fri/Sat July 21/22, 11 a.m.-9 p.m., Sun July 23, 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Seattle Center
More than 60 restaurants will be featured this weekend at the Seattle Center along with five entertainment stages, a Family Fun Zone, amazing chef demonstrations and more. No pets, please. Admission is free; food prices are $10 or less.

Saint James Faire Sat July 22/Sun July 23, 12-5 p.m. Camlann Medieval Association, Carnation
Step way back in time in Camlann this weekend with scenes from 14th century English village life including minstrels, sword and archery demonstrations, crafters and more. (Adults must supervise ages 12 and younger). Optional banquet at 5 p.m. ($45), reservations required. $10, $6 seniors and ages 6 to 12, free ages 5 and younger.
