Take A Walk (or Ride) at the Arboretum Grand Loop Celebration

The new 1.2-mile paved stretch of trail is a wandering path lined with benches offering new vistas of this beautiful park.

The new Arboretum Loop Trail quietly opened to walkers, runners and cyclists in November of 2017, but this weekend marks the grand opening celebration of the long-planned addition to one of Seattle's most beautiful parks. The new 1.2-mile paved stretch of trail is a wandering path lined with benches and a great spot to take in new vistas of this special Seattle park.

The trail has been underway for more than three years and will cover the distance between the park's north and south entrances at E Madison Street and Foster Island Road, forming a 2.5 mile loop with Arborteum Drive. The new trail section opens up the park to things never previously seen before—21 new and 30 renovated plant exhibits among them—and improves visitor access to the public garden as whole.

Come celebrate the opening and loop the new loop this Sunday, April 8. The ribbon cutting will happen at 1 pm in the Birch Parking Lot on Lake Washington Boulevard and East Interlaken Boulevard.

There event will have music, food trucks and lively activities and entertainment for all ages including a performance by the Husky Marching Band Drumline, a talk and book signing with outdoors writer and guidebook author Craig Romano, and kids activities hosted by the UW Botanic Gardens

Make sure to keep a look out for Seattle's Child at the celebration. We're a proud sponsor and will be providing bike and stroller decorating materials to make things fun and festive!
