Kids’ Trout Derby
5:45 -10 a.m. Saturday, May 5
Ponds behind Snoqualmie Police Station. FREE

Calling all kids ages 5 to 14. Come compete for fun prizes by fishing! BYO gear (no nets) and get there early. Fishing begins at sunrise. You may keep a maximum of 2 fish. Kids under age 5 may fish but not compete. Refreshments served after the event.

 

Windermere Cup Regatta and Opening Day Boat Parade
10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, May 5
Montlake Cut. FREE

Don’t miss the official opening of Seattle’s boating season featuring the Windermere Cup Regatta crew races!  Then stick around afterward for a decorated boat parade featuring all sizes/types of boats – from rowboats to Seattle Fire Department boats. Food trucks, family activities, and free giveaways too. Races begin at 10 a.m.

Parking available in University of Washington lots.

 

StoryBook Theater: Rapunzel
11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, May 5-6
Kirkland Performance Center

Kids 3 and older and their families will love this live-action musical version of the classic long-haired fairy tale.  Sit back and enjoy StoryBook Theater as they bring this tale with a twist to life on stage. Show runs various dates and locations through May 20.

 

Cartoonist Vishavjit Singh Workshop
1:30-3 p.m. Saturday, May 5
Wing Luke Museum, Seattle. FREE

Explore Cartoonist Vishavjit Singh’s exhibition "Wham! Bam! Pow! Cartoons, Turbans and Confronting Hate" and join him as he shares his work and what inspired him to become Captain America in an interactive storytelling session for the whole family.

 

Walk for Water
1 p.m. Sunday, May 6
Seattle Center fountain

With water all around us, it’s hard to remember that so many places in the world are not as lucky. Bring the whole family and walk a 5K to benefit clean water programs in Ethiopia, Bangladesh and Honduras. $15-$25, free ages 5 and younger, fundraising encouraged.

 

Birds of the Duwamish
1-3 p.m. Sunday, May 6
Duwamish Longhouse and Cultural Center, Seattle. FREE

The Duwamish Tribe, in partnership with the Seattle Parks Department, is hosting an afternoon event to teach us all about the native birds that live in the Puget Sound and Duwamish waterway area. Free binoculars for the first 50 guests.
