Tuesday, May 29

Explore the Beach with Naturalists Join volunteer naturalists during low tide on the beach to learn about Puget Sound's multitude of marine plants and animals. Offered at several beaches on many dates through August. Today, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Carkeek Park (Broadview), South Alki Beach (West Seattle), Golden Gardens Park (Ballard), Lincoln Park (West Seattle), Seahurst Park (Burien), and Richmond Beach (Shoreline). Free Tuesday Movie Enjoy a free movie and refreshments on the last Tuesday afternoon each month. Today, Hunt for the Wilderpeople (PG) – a comedy about a kid on the run with his cantankerous foster uncle. 2:30 p.m. Central Branch Library, Downtown Seattle.

Seattle Humane's Pets in The Park The MaxMobile adoption van will be parked in Cal Anderson Park in the afternoon. Bring a bagged lunch, hang out with adoptable pets, and help an animal find a home. 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cal Anderson Park, Seattle (Capitol Hill).

Writers in the Schools (WITS) Year‑End Reading & Celebration Elementary & middle school student writers share poems, stories, and memoirs created with the WITS program. 6 to 8 p.m. Central Branch Library, Downtown Seattle.

Young Readers Society Held on the last Wednesday of the month, readers ages 8 to 12 are invited to discuss a book with their peers. Parents not allowed. Today’s book, The Inquisitor's Tale by Adam Gidwitz. 6 to 7 p.m. Secret Garden Books, Seattle (Ballard).

Sunday, June 3

Bicycle Sundays The four-mile stretch of Lake Washington Boulevard between Mount Baker Beach and Seward Park is closed to motorized traffic several Sundays through September. Enjoy biking, jogging or strolling along the water. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Lake Washington Boulevard South (Mount Baker).

Sunday Public Sail Each Sunday, the Center for Wooden Boats offers free 45-minute rides on Lake Union. Set sail on one of the classic boats. Sign up for a slot in person, several trips throughout the day. Space is limited. Sign up begins at 10 a.m. Center for Wooden Boats (Lake Union).
