Savage and Friends Reassure Gay Kids “It Gets Better.”

Dan and Terry tell gay teens life gets better after high school

Seattle dad Dan Savage, who pens the popular Savage Love sex column in The Stranger, has recently launched a campaign on YouTube.com to send this message to gay teens struggling to come out or who are experiencing harassment: "It gets better."

Last month Savage called on gay readers to send in videos about talking about how and why their lives have gotten better since high school. More than that, he asked those who send videos to tell young people struggling with their sexual orientation why they should not consider suicide an option.

As of this week, dozen’s of videos have been uploaded the It Gets Better Project YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/user/itgetsbetterproject.

The campaign launched by Savage came in response to the suicide of Indiana teen Billy Lucas, who was bullied by classmates. After "It Gets Better" launched.

"Today we have the power to give these kids hope," Savage in the column that launched the campaign. "We have the tools to reach out to them and tell our stories and let them know that it does get better."
