Free Fishing Weekend

All you need is your fishing gear this weekend. No licenses, vehicle passes, or Discover Passes required. However, size limits, bag limits and other official rules still apply.  Now go fishing!

 

Vashon Sheepdog Classic
7 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, June 9-10
Misty Isle Farms

Be awed and amazed as highly trained sheepdogs and their handlers compete in herding trials on Vashon Island. Crafts and fiber-arts demonstrations throughout the day. Cash only for event, food and incidentals. Space is limited, pre-purchase if possible. Shuttle available from the North and South end ferries.

 

Howling for Wolves
9 a.m.-noon Saturday, June 9
Center for Urban Horticulture; FREE

Gray wolves have returned to Washington state. Come learn from the Pacific Wolf Coalition about these unique animals in a morning of hands-on learning. You’ll discover the complexities of gray wolf recovery, as well as the efforts throughout the state to coexist with them peacefully.

 

Evergreen Mountain Bike Festival
9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, June 9
10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, June 10
Duthie Hill Park. FREE

BYO bike, helmet and pads for a fun day of trail riding. See demonstrations, take part in educational clinics, check out vendors and more. Plus there are food vendors and plenty of kids’ activities. The event is free, but there are fees for some activities.

 

"Zoo"
11:30 a.m. Sunday, June 10
SIFF Cinema Uptown

SIFF Films4Families presents "Zoo," the story of a young teen in Belfast circa 1941 whose father works as a veterinarian at the local zoo. Follow the teen’s adventures as he helps with the animals, contends with the ornery security guard and befriends a baby elephant. $8.

 

Georgetown Carnival
noon-10 p.m. Saturday, June 10; FREE

Everyone loves a carnival. Head to Georgetown for a great day of food, live entertainment, fun carnival games, power-tool races, interactive art, loud marching bands and lots, lots, more.
