Local Students’ Art to be Showcased at Seattle Art Museum

Several local students have received prestigious national awards through the 2011 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition. As well, the work of two local students, who won awards in the 2010 competition, are included in a traveling exhibit that is currently on view at Seattle Art Museum through Sunday, April 24.

Julia Chamberlain, a talented photographer and visual artist who attended Bainbridge High School and is currently a freshman at the University of Washington, has her gold medal-winning photograph, “Pattern,” at the exhibit.

As well, passionate filmmaker Ben Kadie, who attends Interlake High School in Bellevue, has a three-minute film noir spoof in the exhibit called “Sparks in the Night,” which he originally created for The Seattle Times Three-Minute Movie Contest. His filmmaking web site and accolades can be found at https://slugco.com/.

View their work, and the art of other 2010 award winners, at the free ART.WRITE.NOW exhibit at Seattle Art Museum, in the Community Corridor. To learn more, visit the Seattle Art Museum web site.
