Let your cubs roam free at Northwest Trek’s Bear Camp

This weekend only, May 17-18

If you’ve got a little adventurer (or a whole sleuth of them, that’s what they call a group of bears) in your house, this weekend’s Bear Camp at Northwest Trek Wildlife Park is worth the trip. Held May 17–18, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Bear Camp is a two-day, family-friendly celebration of one of the Pacific Northwest’s most iconic creatures. And the best part? All activities are free with park admission.

What is Bear Camp?

This isn’t your typical nature walk. Bear Camp is hands-on, creative, and perfect for kids who love to ask questions, get messy, and move. Kids can make bear ears at the craft station, test their skills identifying a “bear-safe” campsite, or get into the bear mindset with the “Eat Like a Bear” activity. There’s also a Cub Corner for toddlers, bear trivia, and bear safety education throughout the day.

Keeper chat and demos

Don’t miss the daily keeper chats featuring real wildlife demonstrations: learn about bear-safe food storage, campsite do’s and don’ts, and get up close with grizzlies, black bears, raccoons, and even a curious skunk. For little ones who love stories, head to the Northwest Kids’ Trek Pavilion for bear-themed storytime (12:15 p.m. and 2:15 p.m.).
