Bicycle Weekend on Lake Washington Boulevard is Back
Location
Lake Washington Boulevard
Description
Bicycle Weekend on Lake Washington Boulevard is back! A scenic 3-mile stretch of Lake Washington Boulevard between Mount Baker Beach and Seward Park will once again be closed to motorized vehicles but open to people walking, rolling, and biking, from 10 a.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday, on scheduled weekends from May to September.
This time change reflects the call for Bicycle Weekends to be more predictable, and consistent, and to reduce the impacts on evening and morning commutes. Seattle Parks and Recreation invites everyone in the community to bike, jog or stroll along the boulevard between the Seward Park entrance and Mount Baker Park’s beach during these times.
Local access: People driving to homes along the boulevard because they live there, are visiting, or making deliveries are allowed from the nearest cross street.
It’s a flat piece of lakefront roadway that links several parks and makes a great spot for family bike rides and non-motorized scooters, skating, walking, and running. The longtime popular “Bicycle Sunday” events, when Lake Washington Boulevard closed to cars, have become Bicycle Weekends and shut down the road two weekends a month May through September.
The 2023 event dates are:
May 20-21; May 27-28
June 17-18; June 24-25
July 1-2; July 15-16
August 19-20; August 26-27
September 2-3; Septenber 16-17
