Description
Join Bainbridge Island for their Mochi Tsuki Festival. Mochi Tsuki, or pounding rice to make mochi rice cakes is an important traditional event in preparation for the New Year. During this festive event, attendees will get to experience authentic mochi steaming over an outdoor fire, mochi pounding in a traditional stone bowl, making mochi balls, and indulging afterward. Don't miss out on origami folding, group obon dance workshops (12:45 p.m. and 1:45 p.m.), and more.
Bon Odori (ēčøć), meaning simply āBon danceā, is a style of folk dancing performed during Obon, a festival to honor the spirits of oneās ancestors. Lessons will be conducted outdoors under the shelter from 12:45-1:45 p.m.
There will be drum performances by Seattle Kokon Taiko at 11:45 a.m. and 2 p.m.
