Happy Hanukkah!

Everyone – Jewish or not – is welcome to experience the fun that Hanukkah brings. Check out one of these events with your family and enjoy the eight-day Jewish holiday also known as the Festival of Lights.

Sing and dance with kindie rocker Caspar Babypants at one of the celebrations, Hanukkah Under the Stars, which takes place in Mercer Island on Nov. 23. Enjoy arts and crafts, storytelling, latkes, pizza and more at this event, co-sponsored by the Stroum Jewish Community Center and Jewish Day School. There is free admission to Hanukkah Under the Stars with the donation of personal items (toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, soap or deodorant) to the Jewish Family Service. Explore the food, traditions, music, books and crafts of holidays from different cultures, including Hanukkah Nov. 27 through Dec. 3, during the Festivals of Light at The Children's Museum, Seattle. The festival is thrown each year to provide children and their families the opportunity to explore a variety of celebrations and festivals that take place in the winter months. The Children's Museum

Seattle Jewish Chorale is gearing up to present its annual holiday show, A Feast of Grace and Light. The whole family is invited to this inspirational and fun concert celebrating Hanukkah, Thanksgiving and more. The first of three performances takes place Dec. 1 at Temple Beth Hatfiloh in Olympia. The Chorale also performs Dec. 4 in Bellevue and Dec. 15 in Seattle. Tickets are $5 for kids and $12 for adults. Visit www.seattlejewishchorale.org to learn more.

Seattle Jewish Chorale | Steve Shay

The Seattle Mandolin Orchestra, featuring soprano Julie Finch, returns to the Ballard Library on Saturday, Dec. 7 for a free concert of holiday favorites. Bring your family to listen or sing along! Christmas and Hanukkah tunes from America and around the world will be featured, played by mandolins of all sizes in this unique orchestra. This event is free and open to the public.
