If immersive gaming floats your family’s boat, just step into the box: the new Immersive Gambox space that opens at Tukila’s Westfield Southcenter on Aug. 28.
The new gaming lounge is the London-based company’s first in Washington — and its first franchise. But even though it’s locally owned, expect the same box room-style and multi-player immersive play variety the company is known for.

What does that look like? The store’s play rooms are designed for groups of two to six players. Within each box, all four walls become an interactive touchscreen. They incorporate projection mapping, touch-sensitive walls, motion tracking, and spatial audio to create the feeling that players are fully immersed in the game’s world. That touchscreen means no joysticks or other controllers are required.
That means even very young players can get into the game. The company recommends players be at least that age 3.
The upshot is that players of all ages can quickly rise in skill playing games, including crime-fighting in world of Batman, trying to avoid lava in the Floor Is Lava game, fighting to survive six deadly Korean childhood games in Netflix’s Squid Game, slingshotting your way through Angry Birds, and achieving the Pup Pup Boogie Dance Party in a young family favorite, the PAW Patrol game.
““We’ve seen incredible demand for social, immersive entertainment around the world,” Immersive Gamebox CEO Lisa Paton said in a release. “We’re thrilled to introduce Seattle-area guests to a completely new way to play together.”
