It's harvest festival season! Check out these events in Seattle and beyond

Harvest fun is happening in various communities through the end of October!

Seattle wears September and October well. The rains return, relieving the dry and smoke of late summer. The slanting light brings out the colors, which in turn get brighter. Farmers market stalls are jammed with colorful vegetables and fruit, and the gales of November haven't chased everyone inside yet. Here are some fine city festivals to celebrate the season.

Issaquah Salmon Days: A uniquely Northwest take on the harvest festival: one that celebrates the season of salmon spawning! The event kicks off with a parade, then continues with arts and crafts, bands, running events, and a carnival. It’s a huge event with tons of wonderful local food and plenty to keep the kids occupied during this popular event. Saturday, Oct. 6 and Sunday, Oct 7.

Fauntleroy Fall Festival: Straw-bale portraits and salmon hats give a unique feel to this small but mighty neighborhood event. A cakewalk, bounce toys, performances, and even fire-truck tours are part of the annual event in the far reaches of West Seattle. Sunday, Oct. 21.
