Martha Lake Elementary in Lynnwood is one of five winners in the “Let’s Play” initiative, a $15 million, three-year commitment to KaBOOM!, a national nonprofit that aims to save play by ensuring there is a great place to play within walking distance of every child.
In April, communities across the country submitted videos explaining why they should get one of the Let’s Play grants. After more than 43,000 votes poured in, Martha Lake Elementary was chosen as a winner of a $15,000 grant to use toward new equipment for a community playground.
The Martha Lake playground was removed because of safety concerns, but there was no money to replace the outdated equipment. This grant will help in that endeavor. For more information, visit www.letsplay.com.
