As parents, we know that sometimes it can be tricky getting our kids to embrace vegetables. Broccoli can be baffling, cabbage can be creepy, and squash can be downright scary. Readers to Eaters, a Seattle-based publisher, works to promote food literacy from the ground up, helping make vegetables more accessible to kids through a series of ecologically minded, kid-friendly books.
Their latest release, Zora’s Zucchini, is a colorful and whimsical tale that encourages healthful eating and community building, and teaches our kids about where food comes from. This month, Phinney Books hosted a reading of the book to young readers.

Owners Tom Nissley and Laura Silverstein, lifetime advocates of raising good readers, opened their doors in June 2014, and the warm and welcoming store has delighted local residents and visitors ever since.
