Big news for local families who love thoughtful screen time: “Look, Listen and Learn TV”, the Seattle-based children’s show that blends learning with representation, just won a regional Emmy Award — and we’re cheering from our couches.
The award, announced this week, recognizes the show’s work in the Children/Youth and Teens category. If you haven’t heard of “Look, Listen and Learn TV” (LL+L) yet, it’s a gem of a show designed for kids ages 3 to 8. It weaves storytelling, social-emotional learning, and culturally relevant themes into engaging, arts-based episodes — all with a mission to support the emotional well-being of Black, Indigenous, and children of color.

Founder and executive producer Val Thomas-Matson called the win “a testament to the power of storytelling in driving change.” And if you’ve seen even one episode, you get it — LL+L doesn’t just entertain; it affirms and uplifts.
Created here in Seattle, the show is available to stream on the PBS app, YouTube, and airs locally on KBTC, Tacoma’s PBS station. It’s part puppet show, part storytime, part creative learning hub — and all heart. Whether your kiddo is learning how to name their feelings, celebrate their identity, or just needs a new friend in “Auntie Lena,” there’s something meaningful waiting for them in every episode.
The Emmy win feels like a huge moment not just for the creators, but for the many families who see themselves reflected on-screen — maybe for the first time. And for those new to the series, it’s a great excuse to tune in and see what the buzz (and now Emmy) is all about. We’ll drop Ep. 1 of their latest season here, to get you started.
