Seattle Center Launches Parking Validation for On-Site Diners

Seattle Center is now offering $1 parking in the 5th Avenue North Garage for visitors to Seattle Center Armory who spend at least $10 in food and drink from participating food merchants. The discount, which applies to up to 90 minutes of parking, provides extra incentive for visitors to enjoy the selection of local, fresh foods by Northwest chefs featured in the newly-renovated space.

The validation program applies to parking during the day and evening. The simple system allows parkers to take a parking ticket as usual upon entry into the garage. Then, when they make their $10 or more purchase from any one of the participating food merchants, they show their parking ticket and ask for a validation ticket. Directions on the validation ticket then guide them through the process. The $1 fare applies to parking of up to 90 minutes. Vehicles parked longer than 90 minutes and less than five hours receive a $2 discount on the standard rate.

The parking validation program is slated to remain in effect through May 24, 2013 in the 5th Avenue North Garage, which is located just across 5th Avenue North from Seattle Center between Harrison and Republican Streets. Parking validation is not available on several dates in which parking fares are collected upon garage entry in order to expedite exiting after large gatherings on the grounds, such as KeyArena concerts and sporting events. Only one validation per vehicle is allowed, and validation is good only for the day of food and beverage purchase.

The parking validation program complements efforts at Seattle Center to transform Seattle Center Armory into a delectable dining destination. Renovation of the food area in 2011 opened interior spaces with large storefront windows and doors, muted interior colors, and introduced a focus on creative, local food offerings. Participating Armory food merchants include Beansprouts Café & Cooking School, Bigfood, Ceres Roasting Company, The Confectional, Eltana Wood-Fired Bagels, Kabab, MOD Pizza, PIE, Plum Market, Quincy's, Seattle Fudge, Skillet Counter, and Subway.
