The Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Arts Council just announced the winners of its fourth annual poetry contest, which is held each year in honor of National Poetry Month. The entries were juried by local poets Jeannine Hall Gailey and Martha Silano.
The winners of the student division of the poetry contest are as follows:
First Place: Her Garden, Emma Spence, Edmonds Woodway High School
Second Place: The Ballet, Jessica Langsted, Edmonds Woodway High School
Third Place: Esperanza, Jessica Irby, Edmonds Woodway High School
Honorable Mentions: Reverie, Sophie Kang, Saratoga High School; A Song for a Son, Anna McLane, Edmonds Woodway High School; Pieces, Anya Bychkova, Shorecrest High School; Black and White, Anna McLane, Edmonds Woodway High School
Winners of the poetry contest will read their poems at a free celebration event on Wednesday, April 27, at 7 p.m. at Third Place Commons in the Lake Forest Park Towne Centre (17171 Bothell Way N.E.). Published poets Belle Randall and Janee J. Baugher will also read and discuss their work.
