Spend an evening with Will Ferrell

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to spend an evening with Will Ferrell? Well, the Pacific Northwest is about to find out as the comedy icon comes to Meany Hall on the University of Washington campus on Friday, Sept. 19 for a one-of-a-kind event to benefit the charity Cancer for College.

Cancer for College has granted nearly $2 million in scholarships to more than 1,000 cancer survivors across the country, including more than $175,000 to survivors from the Pacific Northwest.

The event, billed as "Approximately 90 Minutes with Will Ferrell and Some Other People," will feature the Saturday Night Live alum and star of films such as Old School, Elf and Anchorman on stage sharing humorous and insightful stories from throughout his entire career. Ferrell will be joined by his good friend Craig Pollard, a two-time cancer survivor, double amputee and the founder of Cancer for College.

"I'm going to Seattle? Whoever booked this is so fired," said Ferrell. "I guess we will show up, do some stuff, talk about things, maybe work in a joke or two. Honestly, this is news to me. You are catching me completely off guard. Apparently it's for charity, and we will be sending some cancer survivors to college, so I'm happy to be there, but as for you people buying tickets to this show, there is no telling what you are going to get. It could be brilliant or I may just stare back at the audience for 90 minutes. I guess you will have to show up to see what happens."

Ticket prices range from $75 to special $500 VIP seats that include a pre-show party and signed gift from Ferrell. Doors open at 7 p.m. on Sept. 19 with show time at 7:30 p.m. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Cancer for College Pacific Northwest scholarship fund, which specifically funds scholarships for cancer survivors either from or attending school in the Pacific Northwest.

Serving as host for the evening will be King 5 Newsman Dennis Bounds. Bounds will lead Pollard and Ferrell, who met in college while at the University of Southern California, through an entertaining and interactive dual interview punctuated with photos, video clips and audience participation. The event is intended for the whole family.
