“Connections,” a symposium for parents of gifted children, will be held on Saturday, Jan. 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Redmond High School (17272 N.E. 104th St.). This conference is aimed at parents who have questions about their child’s exceptional abilities and differences.
The symposium is cosponsored by the Northwest Gifted Child Association and the Gifted Education Advisory Council. It was created so that parents of gifted children have the opportunity to get information about the specific academic, emotional and social needs of their children, and also a chance to talk candidly about the challenges of raising a gifted child.
Keynote speakers include Steve Curtis, Ph.D., discussing appropriate parent expectations of a gifted child’s school experience; and Nancy Hertzog, Ph.D., talking about enhancing creativity and inspiring curiosity at home. To learn more about the speakers, and the break-out sessions that follow, visit www.nwgca.org/connections.html.
The cost for the conference ranges from $24 to $65. Register by Tuesday, Jan. 25, for early registration rates. For more information, visit www.nwgca.org/connections.html.
