The Seattle Center will be hoppin' this Sunday for the first annual Seattle Children's Festival, produced by Northwest Folklife in partnership with Seattle Center. Families are invited to come enjoy music, dance, a puppet show, cooking demonstrations, musical instrument introductions, coloring, painting, wind-chime building and more.
This one-day multicultural festival brings together local communities that showcase and celebrate families of the region. It's an all-day event, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., with no admission fee, thanks to the generous donations of the community. The event is geared toward families with children ages 2 to 10.
The festival features performances from Recess Monkey, Caspar Babypants, jump roping with Ropeworks, Simba Marimba, Crankies (hand-made movies made with felt and cloth), Brazilian Capoeira, Leela Kathak Dancers, Bollywood Dance from Rhythms of India, West African dance from Etienne Cakpo & Gansango, cooking demonstrations from PCC, a photo opportunity with Curious George (courtesy of KCTS 9) and more.
The Seattle Children's Festival takes place at Seattle Center's Fisher Pavilion, Armory and Armory Lofts. For a complete look at the schedule, visit Northwest Folklife's website.
