Celebrate the first birthdays of the Point Defiance Zoo tiger cubs – Berani and Dumai – on Friday, Aug. 23 and Saturday, Aug. 24. The two male cubs have grown up together, so it’s only fitting that a two-day celebration honor their birthdays.
Berani the Malayan tiger cub arrived at the zoo on Oct. 10, 2012 to be hand-reared with Dumai, the Sumatran tiger cub born Aug. 22, 2012. Berani (pronounced burr-rani) and Dumai (pronounced doo-my) are now active 1-year-olds.
Festivities will include special activities for visitors, including keeper talks at 12:30 p.m., and treats and toys, or enrichments, for the cubs. All activities are free with paid admission. To learn more, visit www.pdza.org/calendar?cid=361.
