Top Awards for Artistic Rendering of the Washington State Fish Goes to Dunlap Elementary Students

Al’Tariq Sims, a student at Dunlap Elementary in South Seattle, created the best art in the state (for grades four through six) of Washington’s state fish, the steelhead trout, as judged by the national nonprofit Wildlife Forever. Amanda Dela Cruz, also of Dunlap Elementary, won second prize in the same grade category.

National awards for the top three pieces of art in each grade category, as well as a “People’s Choice” award, will be announced at the State-Fish Art EXPO in Texas, taking place Friday, June 24, and Saturday, June 25. The public has until Tuesday, June 21, to vote for Sims’ art in the People’s Choice award category by following the links at www.wildlifeforever.org/contest.
