Who doesn’t love the organized race atmosphere, the challenge, the swag and that sense of accomplishment? As my kids have grown, I’ve been on the lookout for races we can participate in together as a family. We’d mostly outgrown kid dashes until I discovered the Top Pot Doughnut Dash. Now, like the proverbial carrot, I can dangle that delicious deep-fried circle as a finishing prize. The sixth annual 5K walk/run is on Sunday, April 26, with the start and finish near the Green Lake Community Center. The 1K kids dash follows the 5K; round out the day with vendors and catch a free Caspar Babypants show. Proceeds benefit local nonprofit Childhaven, which helps to break cycles of abuse and neglect.
