Walk in the Shoes of a Dyslexic at Hamlin Robinson School Awareness Event

Hamlin Robinson School, located at the former home of TT Minor Elementary at 1700 E. Union St. in Seattle, will host “A Walk in the Shoes” on Wednesday, Jan. 26, at 6:30 p.m. at the school’s learning center. This hour-long simulation of life with dyslexia is free and open to the public, and will help participants understand firsthand dyslexia’s impact on the learning process.

A series of exercises will lend insight into the auditory, visual and kinesthetic challenges of dyslexia. Faculty members from Hamlin Robinson School, which specializes in helping students with dyslexia and related language difficulties, will be on hand to answer questions. The event is especially ideal for parents with newly-diagnosed children, or caregivers and other adults who interact with dyslexic learners.

It is estimated that 12 to 15 percent of the population has some form of dyslexia. Find more facts about dyslexia on the International Dyslexia Organization’s web site.

Space is limited at the event. Contact 206-763-1167 or visit https://www.hamlinrobinson.org/ for further questions.
