How committed are Washington moms to breastfeeding? Very much so, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
In CDC "Breastfeeding Report Cards," Washington State has consistently ranked among the top ten in terms of how many and how long mothers breastfeed their infants. The 2014 report showed 92% of Washington mothers had breastfed, and 47% breastfed exclusively for the first 3 months of their children's lives.
The Washington Department of Health strongly supports mothers desiring to breastfeed, and provides a number of resources at their website. This includes a link to information about the laws protecting a mother's right to breastfeed both in public and in the workplace. It's important for mothers to be aware of both the laws in place, and their recourse for responding to discrimination.
