Fiddleheads Family Nature Class, Sat 10-12. UW Botanic Gardens. Preschoolers and their caregivers will explore and experience the gardens using their senses. Small Frye: Storytelling in the Galleries, Frye Art Museum, Fri 10:30-11:45 a.m. Storytelling and art for kids 3-5. Seattle Children's Theatre actors will engage imaginations in a dramatic book reading followed by hands-on drawing/painting/sculpting with themes tied in to the story. Pre-register. fryemuseum.org

Sound Off! – Final Round, Sat 8 p.m. EMP Museum. Doors open at 7. The best of the Seattle best compete in the final round of the Battle of the Bands. Come listen, dance and cheer for the next famous NW sound. $12, $8 students. empmuseum.org

Dino Day, Sun 10-4. Burke Museum. Crack open fossils, talk with paleontologists, dig in the Dino Pit, watch dinosaurs work with real fossils and learn amazing facts about these extinct creatures. $10, $8 seniors, $7.50 students and youth, free ages 4 and younger. burkemuseum.org

Doktor Kaboom – It's Just Rocket Science, Sat 11-1. Kirkland Performance Center. Comedy and science meet and explode in this exciting demonstration of physics and chemistry. $15-20. kpcenter.org

Ballard Homestead Opening with The Not-Its!, Sat 4-6 p.m. Ballard Homestead. Grand Opening of the Abbey Arts' new community events space. Tours, crafts, games and music by The Not-Its and fiddler Kristian Sweringen. Free. ballardhomestead.org
