Youth mental health is focus of online Children’s Alliance event

Oct. 16 seminar digs into solutions for mental health crisis

Everyone is invited to a thought-provoking discussion about the youth mental health crisis.

The Children’s Alliance’s Path Forward event will take place on Zoom from 1-2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16.

The focus is on promising policy solutions to aid youth mental health. The speakers are state Rep. Lisa Callan, who has championed youth mental health policies in the Legislature; and Trevor Greene, superintendent of Yakima School District.

Along with Childrenā€™s Alliance Executive Director Dr. Stephan Blanford, they will talk about potential approaches to develop a system that will give Washington young people the mental health supports they need.

More on the speakers:

State Rep. Lisa Callan represents Washington’s 5th District and is a co-chair of the Children & Youth Behavioral Health Work Group. Her work brings together a wide range of people focused on improving behavioral health services and strategies for children, youth, families and caregivers. They focus on mental health, substance use, suicide prevention, workforce development, and behavioral health care.

Dr. Trevor Greene is in his fifth year as superintendent of Yakima School District. He has a strategic plan that focuses on student attendance, dual-language learning, early learning, and on-time graduation.
