With Christmas and New Year’s hitting smack in the middle of the week this year, it’s extra-hectic for working parents. Here are some fine places around town that will be running day camps through the holiday chaos.
Give your curious little minds a chance to explore and experiment with hands-on projects at this popular day camp. Topics range from coding and video games to space travel, winter survival in the great outdoors, busting science myths, art using nature as a medium and even lessons for budding young entrepreneurs.

The School of Acrobatics and New Circus Arts has two-day camps that will teach your kids the finer points of tumbling, aerial arts, juggling, the trapeze and more.

Who: Ages 6-14
This ultra-popular holiday hoop camp is run by Seattle Super Sonics legend, Slick Watts. Kids will have the chance to work on the fundamentals of the game and learn teamwork at the same time.

Who: Grades K-8
This drama school teaches every theater topic you can imagine. Over winter break, there’s a “physical comedy” acting camp for kids in grades 3 to 5, and a Winterfest-inspired creative drama camp for younger children.

Kids will love a chance to get the wiggles out at the Seattle Gymnastics Academy—from the foam pit to the trampolines, there is no shortage of ways to have fun here. Kids can sign up for a single morning or afternoon or for several days. Preschool is morning only.

Winter or summer, camp at the zoo is an all-time favorite. During winter break this year, kids will have a chance to study food webs. Half day camp available for kids ages 4-6.

Who: Ages 4-9
Burn off all that extra holiday energy by keeping them active all day long at one of the Arena Sports camps. Half day camp available for ages 3-5.

Who: Ages 3-12
They'll still be learning even though they're not in school at this camp for science enthusiasts. Innovative projects and fun hands-on experiments will also show them how fun learning can be.

The creative hub in the Central District offers the following classes over the winter break for kids aged 10 to 15: painting, origami, metalwork, kinetic Sculpture, filmmaking, fashion design, electronic music production, digital photography, desserts (a cake a day!), dance, cooking, and comics and cartoon drawing.

They’ll have creative fun exploring drawing, painting and other visual media. Collage perhaps, or paper mache.
