Monday, October 16

PlayGarden Open Play. Seattle Children’s PlayGarden is a space that celebrates all needs and abilities. Open play is every week from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and 1:30 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Each week features hands-on activities. Seattle Children’s PlayGarden (Central District).

 

Tuesday, October 17

Kids Drama Workshop. Enjoy a story drama workshop with the Seattle Children's Theatre. Kids ages 3 to 5 will enjoy a book and explore elements of the story through acting, art, and interactive, multi-sensory props. 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Neighborhood House High Point (West Seattle).

Toddler Time. Enjoy interactive rhymes, songs, and short stories, just right for busy toddlers. 10 a.m. Shoreline Library (Shoreline).

 

Wednesday, October 18

Homeschool Book Club. Homeschoolers ages 9 to 13 are welcome to drop in to discuss a different book every month. This month’s book is The Familiars by Adam Jay Epstein and Andrew Jacobson. 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Tukwila Library.

 

Thursday, October 19

Build It! Kids ages 2 to 5 can build with Legos®, blocks, train sets, and Lincoln logs in this weekly drop-in session. Develop critical-thinking and engineering thought processes and promote pro-social behaviors like sharing and teamwork. 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Magnuson Community Center (Sand Point).

 

Friday, October 20

Hamlin Halloween Haunt. Listen to spooky songs and stories as you toast marshmallows around a campfire, ride the hay wagon and play Halloween games. 6 to 8:30 p.m. Hamlin Park, Shoreline.

 

Saturday, October 21

Arabic Story Time. Learn the Arabic alphabet with stories, songs and games. Recommended for ages 2 and older. 10:30 a.m. Tukwila Library (Tuwkila).

Fall Festival in Occidental Square. Celebrate fall and enjoy an inflatable obstacle course, face painting, petting zoo, a pumpkin patch ($), and hot cider. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Occidental Square (Pioneer Square).

Sky Nursery 8th Annual Harvest Fest. Check out craft vendors, food, and activities for kids including a maze, photo booth, pumpkin bowling and more. Costumes encouraged. Free admission, monetary donations and non-perishable food items welcome. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sky Nursery (Shoreline).

Urban Farm and Wetlands Grand Opening Celebrate the completion of Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetland. Festivities include farm tours, pumpkin crafts, apple treats, music and more. This brand new, public site features environmental education, urban farm production, food distribution, and experiential learning opportunities. 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Rainier Beach Urban Farm & Wetland (Rainier Beach).

Free Family Weekend Walks Enjoy a 90-minute walk exploring Washington Park Arboretum. There will be tools and activities to engage families with children ages 2 to 12. 1 to 2:30 p.m. Graham Visitors Center at Washington Park Arboretum (Montlake).

 

Sunday, October 22

Sunday Public Sail. Each Sunday, the Center for Wooden Boats offers free 45-minute rides on Lake Union. Set sail on one of many classic boats. Sign up for a slot in person beginning at 10 a.m.; they fill quickly. Space is limited to 200 people for the day. Center for Wooden Boats (South Lake Union).
