Monday, August 26

Ice Cream Story Time Celebrate the end of summer with story time and ice cream. Bring a small towel or oven mitt: You’ll be shaking a bag of ice to make your own ice cream. Then eat it! 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Capitol Hill Branch Library, Seattle.

End of Summer Celebration Do nature-based crafts, play with giant bubbles, get artistic with sidewalk chalk and east some ice cream. 4 to 7 p.m. High Point Branch Library, West Seattle. 

 

Tuesday, August 27

Puppet Party Learn to make different kinds of puppets– string, hand, or on poles – and let them dance and play as you introduce your hand-made characters to others in the group. 10 a.m. to noon. Occidental Square, Seattle.

 

Wednesday, August 28

Family Date Night Summer Concert Pack a picnic and a blanket and head to the park to enjoy the Swingin’ Sixties Orchestra. 6 to 8 p.m. Kent Station Plaza, Kent.

 

Thursday, August 29

Children’s Hour Learn about the North American celebration Dia de los Muertos with a video, stories and crafts. 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Scarecrow Video, Seattle (U-District).

 

Movies in the Park Watch “Guardians of the Galaxy” at the park. Bring your own dinner, or buy something from Fork & Fin food truck. Movie begins at dusk. 8:00 to 10:30 p.m. Ballard Commons Park, Ballard.

 

Friday, August 30

¡Hora De Cuentos! Read stories, sing songs and learn rhymes at Spanish story time. 11 to 11:30 a.m. Greenwood Branch Library, Seattle.

Olympia Harbor Days Celebrate Labor Day Weekend at the Olympia harbor. Watch sand carvers create a tugboat, then board a real tug boat and meet the owners. See tribal performances, tour all types of boats, hear stories about the Salish sea and more. 5 to 8 p.m. today, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

 

Saturday, August 31

Bremerton Blackberry Festival Browse arts-and-crafts vendors, eat delicious food, join a fun run, walk through a car show, see a chalk art contest and find plenty of kids' entertainment. 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday. Downtown Bremerton Boardwalk.

Back to School BBQ with Sounders FC Meet friends, neighbors and Sounders FC for a barbeque, games and school supplies giveaway. 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Denny Park, Seattle.

Flavors of India Festival Celebrate Indian culture with music, dancing, free lunch, face painting, yoga, and a Ratha Yatra (festival of chariots) parade (3 p.m. Sunday). Noon to 9 p.m., today and Sunday. Crossroads Park, Bellevue.

 

Sunday, September 1

Bicycle Sundays Pedal along the stretch of Lake Washington Boulevard South between Mount Baker Beach and Seward Park while it’s closed to vehicle traffic. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Seward Park, Seattle.

Juanita Bay Wildlife Tour Look for songbirds, turtles and waterfowl on this guided walk through the wetlands. 1 to 2 p.m. Juanita Bay Park, Kirkland.

Summer Concert at the Ballard Locks The Jazz Pearls play a free family concert today. 2 to 3 p.m. Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, Seattle (Ballard).
