Lacey 3-D Fireworks Spectacular & Freedom Concert The city of Lacey celebrates independence a day early! Kickstart your star-spangled festivities with music, bounce houses, obstacle courses and 3-D fireworks (10 p.m.; 3-D glasses while supplies last). 4 to 10 p.m. Rainier Vista Park (Lacey).

Happy Independence Day! Here’s our big list of festivals and parades for celebrating the 4th of July with kids around Seattle. Most festivals are free to attend, but bring cash for all those delicious food trucks, fun carnival-style games, and (not so fun) parking.
Free First Thursdays Are you looking for something to do with the kids that doesn’t involve crowded streets and loud fireworks? Pop into a museum, because it's Free First Thursday! The Seattle Art Museum is free from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today. The Museum of History and Industry is also free and open until 5 p.m. Many other museums are open and offering free admission; call ahead to check their holiday hours.
Drag Queen Story Time All hail the Queen of Westlake Park! Meet Kara Sutra downtown for drag queen storytelling every Thursday in July. 10 a.m. to noon, Westlake Park (downtown Seattle)

Small Frye Storytelling + Art Gather in the gallery for dramatic storytelling by Seattle Children’s Theatre; then create an art project related to the story. Preregistration is encouraged. 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. Frye Art Museum, Seattle.

Seattle Bot Battles Robot fight! Watch robotics teams pit their bots against each other in double elimination rounds. 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Seattle Center Armory, Seattle (Lower Queen Anne).
Yoga in the Park Meet at Cascade Park every Saturday this summer. Kids can join in or go play at the nearby playground. 11 a.m. Cascade Playground, Seattle (South Lake Union).
Mary Olson Farm Day Take a trip back in time to the historic Mary Olson Farm. Meet the animals, tour the farmhouse, and learn about farm life. Noon to 5 p.m. Mary Olson Farm, Kent.

Bicycle Sundays Spin along Lake Washington Boulevard from Mount Baker Beach to Seward Park while it’s closed to vehicle traffic. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Alki Point Lighthouse Tour Peek inside a fully functioning lighthouse on an active coastguard site. Kids age 7 and younger can visit the landing, kids ages 8 and older can go all the way to the top. 1 to 4 p.m. (last tour at 3:45 p.m.) Alki Lighthouse, West Seattle.
Street Smart Raccoons Learn about the wild, masked bandits who have learned to navigate an urban environment. 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Lewis Creek Visitors Center, Bellevue.
