Monday, December 11

Reindeer Festival Visit reindeer Dasher and Blitzen, and a camel named Curly, plus see a model train layout. On select days, enjoy live music and a visit with Santa. 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through Dec. 23, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 24. Swansons Nursery (Blue Ridge).

Ivar’s Clam Lights Renton’s holiday light display featuring thousands of lights shines nightly through Jan. 1. 5 to 9 p.m. Gene Coulon Beach Park (Renton).

Magic Monday Held the second Monday of the month, each show features the Pacific Northwest's finest magicians performing feats of mystery, wonder and the bizarre. 7 p.m. Third Place Books (Ravenna).

 

Tuesday, December 12

Jump for Joy Concert Sing and dance along with Caspar Babypants, one of the most popular children's performers in the Northwest. This family concert features hits and songs from the new album, Jump for Joy. 10:15 a.m. today at the Fairwood Library (Renton) and 11 a.m. Dec. 15 at Burien Library (Burien).

 

Wednesday, December 13

Kids Graphic Novel Book Group Learn about different kinds of graphic novels and how to make your own. Explore the process of creating characters, framing art, story arcs, and more. Bring a favorite graphic novel to share, and art supplies. Today, the featured graphic novel is Wonderstruck by Brian Selznick. 3:30 p.m. University Book Store (University District).

Menorah Lighting Celebrate Hanukkah complete with klezmer music by the KlezKidz, dreidels, and Hanukkah gelt. The Menorah Lighting takes place in the pavilion outside of Eddie Bauer and Piatti Ristorante. 6 p.m. University Village (University District).

Christmas Ship Music Enjoy tasty treats by the bonfire while waiting for the Argosy Christmas Ship to arrive (8:20 p.m.) with live music from the Center for Spiritual Living Choir. Thursday, December 14

SAM Lights Hundreds of luminarias and installations will light up Olympic Sculpture Park. Also enjoy hands-on art activities, live music, and sweet treats. 6 to 9 p.m. Olympic Sculpture Park (Downtown Seattle).

 

Friday, December 15

Argosy Christmas Ship Parade of Boats Brightly decorated boats will convene in Lake Union and begin their promenade westward through the Fremont Cut. Watch more than 65 boats from the shore and hear music from the Dickens Carolers broadcast from the lead boat (7:20 and 8:10 p.m.).  The lead boat departs from Lake Union Park Dock, see the complete route here. 7 to 9:30 p.m. Lake Union.

 

Saturday, December 16

Spirit of Kwanzaa Day Celebrate the seven principles of Kwanzaa through dancing, drumming, art and community. 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Powell Barnett Park (Leschi).

Horse Drawn Carriage Rides Make your way through Occidental Square in style with horse-drawn carriage rides, all afternoon. Also enjoy crafting activities, carolers, hot cocoa and letters to Santa. 1 to 5 p.m. Occidental Square.

Caspar Babypants Concert Enjoy a free concert with local kindie rock favorite, Caspar Babypants as he plays some favorites and holiday tunes. 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Easy Street Records (West Seattle).

 

Sunday, December 17

Bombazo Join in a Puerto Rican cultural celebration with live music featuring percussionists, singers and dancers. 2 to 4 p.m. Seward Park.

Garfield High School Jazz Ensemble Enjoy a holiday concert with the award-winning local high-school jazz band. This performance is part of a free bi-monthly jazz series offered at Frye Art Museum. Tickets are available the day of, 30-minutes prior to show time. 2 to 4 p.m. Frye Art Museum (First Hill).
