Kaleidoscope Play and Learn Children ages birth to 5 enjoy singing songs and doing simple arts and crafts. Free play and circle time 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. Bring a lunch or snack, and eat together until noon. Rainier Beach Branch Library, Seattle.

 

Wednesday, May 8

National Walk and Bike to School Day Join the thousands of students, families, community partners, and elected officials all around the country who are participating in this national event. See what’s happening in your neighborhood at walkbiketoschool.org.

Mother’s Day Plant Sale Enjoy the garden in bloom. Kids can make a Mother’s Day card and plant their own seedling. Beautiful plants are for sale, too. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., today through Sun. Kruckeberg Gardens, Seattle (Shoreline).

Northwest Paddling Festival Try out different paddling sports, watch races, build a toy boat and more. 2 to 7 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sat. Sunset Beach at Lake Sammamish State Park, Issaquah.

Pike Place Flower Festival More than 40 tents are set up on the cobblestones of Pike Place to accommodate farmers’ bountiful flower displays. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Sun. Pike Place Market, Downtown Seattle.

World Migratory Bird Day Bash Browse for birds during a ranger-led hike, fly through the dangers of migration during a fun migration game, and create crafts for bird-friendly communities. All ages welcome. Dress for the weather. 8 to 10 a.m. Larson Lake Blueberry Farm, Bellevue.

Endangered Species Day Celebration Learn how to attract butterflies to your garden, do nature arts and crafts, and more. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Magnuson Children’s Garden, Seattle.

Discovery Days Tour the marine biology facility and aquarium at Highline College, which holds more than 250 native Puget Sound marine species. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Marine Science and Technology Center, Des Moines.

Bicycle Sundays The four-mile stretch of Lake Washington Boulevard between Mount Baker Beach and Seward Park is closed to motorized traffic 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Lullaby Project Celebration Concert This moving event will feature songs created by parents at Mary's Place (emergency shelter for families experiencing homelessness) and performed by Seattle Symphony musicians. 11 a.m. Benaroya Hall, Downtown Seattle.

Mother’s Day at the Garden Bring mom to the garden for live music, posy-making, ballroom dancing demos, art, refreshments and shopping. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bellevue Botanical Garden.
