Skagit Valley Tulip Festival This month long festival celebrates the tulip and features a variety of family friendly activities. Here are 5 tips to make the best of your trip. Various locations throughout Skagit Valley.

Toddler Gym Community centers all over the city host indoor gyms for children ages 5 and younger. Toys and activities vary at each gym but most include tricycles, push-cars, climbing structures and soft mats for little ones. Various times and locations. See complete schedule here.

Monday, April 9

Drop in Art Journal Play Shop Join artist Gabriella Duncan in making art from your life with creative journaling. Writing, drawing and found objects will be integrated into journals. Supplies provided or bring your own. 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Beacon Arts, Seattle (Beacon Hill).

Magic Monday Held on the second Monday of the month, each show features the Pacific Northwest's finest magicians performing feats of mystery, wonder and the bizarre. 7 p.m. Third Place Books, Seattle (Ravenna).

Wednesday, April 11

Tinkerlab Kids ages 11 to 17 can explore S.T.E.M. concepts with hands-on activities in this drop in program. 3:30 to 5 p.m. Green Lake Community Center, Seattle (Green Lake).

 

Thursday, April 12

Zoo Friends at Scarecrow Video Preschoolers and kindergarteners can learn all about animal life in this ten-week, drop-in series. Each week, kids will enjoy video clips, books, and hands-on activities related to a different element of animal life. Today, kids can meet a reptile courtesy of Woodland Park Zoo. 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Scarecrow Video, Seattle (Ravenna).

Tugboat Story Time Listen to aboard the Arthur Foss, a 100-year-old tugboat. After stories, there is time to explore the boat. The boat remains at the dock. Ages 1 to 8. $2 suggested donation. Center for Wooden Boats, Seattle (Lake Union).

Top Ten Toys Play Day: Painting Rocks Create painted designs on rocks, and share them in your neighborhood or take them home. Recommended for ages 6 and older. Top Ten Toys, Seattle (Greenwood).

Washington State Parks Free Day Celebrate Spring with a trek through one of Washington’s beautiful parks. Day use only. Additional fees for camping. Various locations throughout Washington.  

 

Saturday, April 14

Leap for Green Fair Celebrate Earth Day and learn about local sustainability resources. Festivities include live music, hands-on arts & crafts, a wetland tour, farm animals, electric bike demonstrations, and more. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mercer Island Community & Event Center, Mercer Island.

ideaX Makerspace Grand Opening Celebrate the grand opening of this creative place where you can learn anything from how to create electronic circuits to making a robot. Festivities include live music, a ribbon cutting ceremony with a former NASA astronaut, hands-on activities, and demonstrations. 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bellevue Library, Bellevue.

International Children's Friendship Festival Children’s organizations representing countries from around the world bring live performances, hands-on activities, a children’s forum and more. 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 14-15. Seattle Center Fisher Pavilion, Seattle (Lower Queen Anne).

Rainwater Storytelling: An Afternoon of Folktales Every Second Saturday, University Heights hosts a variety of family friendly performances. Today, experience Rainwater Storytelling: An Afternoon of Folktales featuring Eva Abrams. 3 to 4 p.m. University Heights Center, Seattle (U District).

 

Sunday, April 15

Sensory Friendly Morning at Imagine Children's Museum Children with autism spectrum and sensory processing disorders along their families are invited to enjoy the museum in a safe, accommodating environment. 9 to 11 a.m. Imagine Children’s Museum, Everett.

Sunday Public Sail Each Sunday, the Center for Wooden Boats offers free 45-minute rides on Lake Union. Set sail on one of the classic boats. Sign up for a slot in person, several trips throughout the day. Space is limited. Sign up begins at 10 a.m. Center for Wooden Boats (Lake Union). 

Family Screening: Indigenous Showcase Shorts This film screening features short stories by Indigenous filmmakers throughout North America, including animated stories, traditional tales, and documentaries. Recommended for ages 10 and older. 2 to 3 p.m. Henry Art Gallery, Seattle (U District).

Lego Mania The meeting room will be full of blocks for kids to build whatever they can imagine.  1 to 4 p.m. Capitol Hill Branch Library, Seattle (Capitol Hill).
