Skagit Valley Tulip Festival Throughout the month of April, celebrate tulips with a variety of family-friendly activities. Here are 5 tips to make the best of your trip. Various locations throughout Skagit Valley.

University Village Play Days Each week a different store hosts a special activity for kids. This week, kids can paint a tile at Paint the Town. 10 to 11 a.m. University Village, Seattle (U District).

Alphabet Soup–A Story & Song Show Explore songs, stories, puppets and poems from one of the Northwest's favorite songwriters and children's author, Eric Ode. 11 to 11:45 a.m. Southcenter Library Connection, Tukwila.

Children’s Hour at Scarecrow Video Preschoolers and kindergartners can learn all about animal life in this ten-week, drop-in series. Each week, kids will enjoy video clips, books, and hands-on activities related to a different element of animal life. 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Scarecrow Video, Seattle (Ravenna).

Learning Buddies Teen volunteers teach math and reading with fun games and activities. 4 to 5:30 p.m. Columbia Branch Library, Seattle (Columbia City).

 

Friday, April 27

Olympia Arts Walk Experience this twice-annual arts walk featuring hundreds of artists with demonstrations, live entertainment, luminary procession (9:30 p.m. April 27) and the Procession of the Species (4:30 p.m. April 28). 5 to 10 p.m. April 27 and noon to 8 p.m. April 28. Various locations throughout Olympia.

World Rhythm Festival More than 80 world music performances, drum and dance workshops, a marketplace, and a drum circle. Noon to 5 p.m. today is Family Day. Noon to 10 p.m. April 27, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. April 28, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 29. FREE. Seattle Center (Lower Queen Anne).

Sunday Public Sail Each Sunday, the Center for Wooden Boats offers free 45-minute rides on Lake Union. Set sail on one of many classic boats. Sign up for a slot in person, several trips throughout the day. Space is limited. Sign up begins at 10 a.m. Center for Wooden Boats (Lake Union).

Reading with Rover Kids have a chance to boost their reading skills and confidence by reading stories out loud to trained therapy dogs. 3 to 4 p.m. Third Place Books, Seattle (Seward Park).
